I worked on various projects that make use of IoT/IIoT sensors relating to PETRONAS. Some uses Aveva, some, other solutions and the real time monitoring of drilling operations uses other brands and systems. It seemed to be a hybrid, federalized, independent ecosystem.

PETRONAS has adopted a hybrid approach to its digital transformation, integrating various IoT and IIoT solutions from multiple providers to enhance operational efficiency and equipment reliability. This strategy involves deploying AVEVA's asset performance management tools alongside other systems for real-time drilling operations monitoring.

For instance, PETRONAS utilizes AVEVA Predictive Analytics in conjunction with the AVEVA PI System to monitor critical assets. This integration has enabled early detection of equipment anomalies, resulting in significant cost savings and reduced downtime. Since implementing this program, PETRONAS has saved approximately $33 million and increased asset utilization by 0.1% per plant.
